Scarefest 3!
AVL Scarefest is baaack! For the third year since we graduated from our Wyvern’s Tale origins, we’ll be opening
up the creepiest Halloween-themed tabletop gaming con in the region! And we’d love for
you to come! This year’s event will be back at the beautiful Montreat Conference Center
for the weekend of October 20-22. You can pick up either a full weekend pass, or just a
day pass for one of the days at our website. As in previous years, we will be offering a wide spread

Skyland Games: HAPPINESS IS MANDATORY; a review of the new Paranoia RPG
This article originally appeared on Skyland Games. Paranoia has been around for decades, and is a game I was in love with 20 years ago. Recently, I picked up and read (cover to cover) Mongoose’s take on life in our beloved Alpha Complex, and found that not only was happiness mandatory, but it was pretty darn easy to comply. We started in 2013 as a Halloween-themed mini-con just for Pathfinder Society RPG in the upstairs gaming area of the Wyvern’s Tale, but Scarefest has grown both in size and in game variety, now hosting 20 different RPGs, several board game tournaments (and a wall of board games for playing at any time), several sessions of miniature-based war gaming, and many runs of Artemis spaceship bridge
Skyland Games: Bounty Hunting Report
This article originally appeared on Skyland Games. The hunt is on! The past few Sundays I’ve organized an open Star Wars Edge of the Empire game at The Wyvern’s Tale. The theme is that the PCs are guild bounty hunters (regardless of mechanical career or specialization) that are sent on episodic missions each week. Thanks to excellent players it has turned out even better than I would have imagined, despite playing consecutively on Super Bowl Sunday and Valentine’s day! The ad
